Mussomeli, SicilyFIELD NOTE / 086

A friend’s home. A family connection.

Villa Vagabunda: a friend’s home in Mussomeli, olive trees, and a connection to my family’s Sicilian roots.

VILLA VAGABUNDA · MUSSOMELI, SICILY · JOHNNY CAITO

The property is going to be called Villa Vagabunda. I’m helping a friend bring it back to life in Mussomeli, Sicily, and I’m excited to be part of seeing it come together.

The connection runs deeper

The Caito family comes from Termini Imerese on the northern coast of Sicily, a little over an hour from Mussomeli by train or car. Being here, working on a property in the place my family comes from, makes this project especially personal.

A quarter acre of possibility

Villa Vagabunda sits on about a quarter of an acre overlooking the central Sicilian landscape. There are olive trees and an outdoor kitchen we’re going to work on. It’s a place with plenty to get excited about, and plenty to do.

Watching it come together

I’m looking forward to getting to work and seeing the property take shape. This is where I’ll keep the stories, the progress, and the things we figure out along the way.
