Do you ever find that sometimes life gets in the way of life? We spend so much time focusing on what’s next and what our next task will be, that oftentimes we forget to slow down a bit and focus on what’s important in life. We work to pay our bills, raise families, support ourselves, but in the long run when all is said and done, we forget that we are living our life on this planet to make the most of it. That’s not to say that we need to avoid responsibility, but every now and then we need to take a deep breath, take a look around and appreciate everything that we’ve got. For just one moment, be still.
Be sure to reward yourself and give yourself a pat on the back when you have accomplished something. It does not have to be a ground-breaking task or something that’s moving the earth…just find something small throughout the day, week, or month and reward yourself. Go out to a nice dinner, buy yourself something nice, and tell yourself that you have done a good job. Also, be sure to schedule some time away from your everyday life and plan a weekend trip, or a week long vacation. It’s important that we all recharge our batteries because otherwise we will soon find ourselves in a major rut. Routine is not a bad thing, as long as you are dialed into your tasks and accomplishments. However, once we start just going through the motions, we will find that we are not moving forward and we will not end up where we hope to be.
Getting burned out is a very dangerous thing for many of us. As soon as we become mentally and physically exhausted and stop getting better each and every day, we then begin to move backwards. Our goal is to take steps forward each and every day, no matter how small those steps may be. If you’re beginning to feel burned out, adjust and mix things up a little bit. Do you take the same route to work all of the time? Try to take a different road next week. Do you always park in the same parking spot? Mix that up too. Nobody is telling you that every single day needs to be the same. Make it different, and begin to feel different.
Give the everyday life a rest. Recharge those batteries. Break out of your comfort zone. Go live life to the fullest.
