Losing Weight Starts With Your Mindset
Want to Talk the Talk? Then You Better Walk the Walk
Today I want to share a little bit of fitness advice. A couple of years ago I weighed nearly 40 pounds more than I did today and I just want to give you just a quick little tip on something simple that you can start doing to help you drop the weight.
Here’s the tip: Get up to 45 minutes earlier in the day and just go for a walk! It doesn’t have to be a speed walk, a jog, or a run. What you’re looking for is just some moderate cardio on an empty stomach. There’s no need to down a protein shake or eat a super nutritious meal as soon as you wake up. Just force yourself to get out of bed about 30-45 minutes before you regularly get up and take a couple of laps around the block. This will help give your metabolism a nice boost first thing in the morning, and get your head on straight to attack the day.
Why on an empty stomach?
Without getting overly technical, here’s why: You have very low blood sugar levels and glycogen stores because you haven’t eaten anything yet. Glycogen is carbohydrate stored in the liver and muscles which is used as a fuel during exercise, so when you use energy through moderate cardio on an empty stomach, your body will burn through what little glycogen you have stored and access your stored fat much sooner.
A big reason you will also see results with this little tip is that it provides an amazing mental boost to your day. Immediately you will start off the day feeling good about yourself, and your mind will think twice about consuming that unhealthy lunch or dinner. If you start sacrificing a little extra sleep, you want to make sure it’s worth it. You will slowly begin to second guess that soda, or that extra candy bar. You will begin to tell yourself that it’s not worth it to eat something unhealthy.
The hardest part is getting out of bed! This is something you must conquer, otherwise you will not be successful in this new routine. Make sure you do this every single day for at least 3 weeks. Before you know it, you will have a solid routine and you will want to start implementing other important healthy things into your new lifestyle. This will get you moving in the right direction, and will help you to start thinking differently.
A great way to make the 30-45 minutes go by quickly, and to also take advantage of this time is to download AUDIO books from apps like Audible.com. This is an amazing way to learn something new and/or get motivated.
